A tank is the refillable chamber that sits on top of a box mod. Compared with a pod system it holds more liquid, takes larger coils, and gives you far more control over airflow and vapour – at the cost of size, weight and a little more maintenance. This is equipment for people who have moved past the starter stage and want to tune how their device performs.

Sub-ohm tanks

Most modern tanks are sub-ohm and built for direct-to-lung vaping: coils below 1 ohm, wide airflow, and mesh heating elements that give even heat across a large surface. They pair with lower-nicotine, higher-VG e-juice – putting high-strength salt nicotine through a sub-ohm tank delivers far more nicotine per puff than intended.

What to look at when choosing

• Capacity – typically 2ml to 6ml. Bubble glass adds capacity at the cost of a wider profile.
• Coil compatibility – the deciding factor. Buy into a coil family that is easy to restock locally; a tank whose coils you cannot find is scrap.
• Fill method – a sliding or hinged top fill is far less messy than a threaded cap.
• Airflow control – a bottom airflow ring reduces leaking compared with top-airflow designs.

Care

Prime every new coil and let it stand five to ten minutes before firing. Rinse and dry the tank fully when changing flavour. Replace o-rings at the first sign of a leak rather than tightening the tank harder, which cracks glass. Keep a spare glass from our accessories range.
