A Geekvape Aegis pod that’s gone weak, dry, or stopped hitting altogether is almost never a dead device — it’s usually the coil, and there are only a few things that actually cause it. Work through these in order before you assume the worst.
First: Is It the Coil or the Battery?
Check the screen or LED indicator first. If the device fires and shows a resistance reading but you get little to no vapor, it’s almost always the coil. If the device won’t fire at all or shows an error, charge it fully before troubleshooting further — a low battery can mimic a “dead coil” on Aegis Boost, Hero, and L200 kits.
Dry Hits and Burnt Taste
This is the most common Aegis complaint, and it’s almost always under-priming. A new Aegis Boost Series B coil or Aegis G mesh coil needs the cotton fully saturated before it’s fired at full power:
- Fill the pod and wait 5–10 minutes before the first puff
- Take 3–4 dry draws with no power to pull liquid into the coil
- Start on a lower wattage setting for the first few puffs, then step up
If it still tastes burnt after priming properly, the coil is done — Aegis mesh coils typically last 1–2 weeks of daily use before the flavor drops off, sooner with sweeter or darker e-liquids.
No Vapor at All (“Dry Hit” with No Taste)
If there’s genuinely no vapor and no taste — not even burnt — check three things in order: the pod is seated fully and clicks into place, the fill port plug is closed, and the airflow ring isn’t fully closed off. On Aegis Hero and L200 kits specifically, a pod that isn’t pushed in until it clicks won’t make electrical contact with the battery at all.
Gurgling or a Wet, Bubbling Sound
A flooded coil (too much liquid pulled into the wicking holes) causes a gurgling sound and weak, wet-tasting hits. Take a few dry draws with the pod removed from the device to clear excess liquid through the mouthpiece, wipe it down, and let it rest for a few minutes before vaping again.
When to Replace the Coil vs. the Whole Pod
If cleaning and re-priming doesn’t fix it, replace just the coil first — it’s the cheaper part and solves the issue on most Aegis kits. Only replace the full pod if the seal itself is cracked or the coil socket looks corroded. Stock up on GeekVape A Series replacement coils or browse the full Pods/Coils range and GEEKVAPE brand page for your specific model.
As with any lithium-battery device, avoid charging a device that’s showing coil or pod issues unattended — the FDA’s vape battery safety guidance covers the basics regardless of brand.
FAQ
How long should a Geekvape Aegis coil last?
Roughly 1–2 weeks of regular use, depending on how sweet or thick your e-liquid is and how many puffs per day you take.
Why is my brand-new Aegis coil already burnt?
It was fired before the cotton fully saturated — always prime for 5–10 minutes and take a few dry draws before the first real puff.
My pod fits loosely and keeps disconnecting — is that the coil?
No, that’s usually the pod’s seal wearing out rather than the coil itself. Replace the pod, not just the coil, if it no longer clicks in firmly.
Does the fix differ between Aegis Boost, Hero, and L200?
No — priming, fill level, and pod seating are the same checks across the whole Aegis line. See our SMOK RPM coil guide or Vaporesso pod leaking guide if you’re running a different brand alongside your Geekvape.
